Baby bamboo sharks at an acquarium in Birmingham will only eat if they are hand fed."It just tickles really," says one staff member.
Fortunately for their handlers, the baby sharks - which measure betwen eight inches and a foot long - do not pose any threat, but could reach up to five feet when fully grown.
Staff at the National Sea LIfe Centre said the sharks are a "little bit dopey", and would not go to the fish box at feeding time.
Acquarist Lynsey Thompson said: "It sounds like a hazardous job, but if you cup the food in your palm they basically vacuum it up and there is little danger of losing your fingers."
But as they get older, will staff still be dippnig their hands in the tank?
"We are confident that once they move on to diced squid and mackerel that we will soon get them feeding for themselves," said Lynsey Thompson.
Fingers crossed!
