While the new Subaru WRX STI is less than 24 hours away from being unveiled, Cosworth has been working on its own rendition of the rally-bred favourite.

The Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 will be restricted to the UK market only and boasts ’supercar-humbling pace’.

If the performance figures are to be believed, forget the Mitsubishi Evolution X – the Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 will have Ferrari and Lamborghini owners worried.

The factory-backed Cosworth version has been confirmed by Subaru to boast an impressive 295kW at 5750rpm.

This is enough grunt to see the Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 cover the zero to 100km/h sprint in just 3.7 seconds – almost two seconds faster than the standard STI.

Cosworth has also added a bespoke braking package developed with AP Racing to contain the extra horsepower, with six-pot calipers and 355mm discs at the front.
