כמו שאנו יודעים הדובה הולכת לשנת החורף שלה כאשר היא בהריון ומתעוררת לאחר שהיא כבר ילדה..איזו אישה לא תרצה ללדת ככה 
ידוע שרוב הגורים נהרגים בשנתם הראשונה ע"י דובים זכרים..עדיין לא ידועה הסיבה לכך ,להבדיל מאריות שהורגים גורים של זכרים אחרים כדי שהנקבות תתיחמנה שוב .
