Sorry for the English, but I don't have an Hebrew keyboard here.
That's going to be a bit long, so I'm sorry in advance.Basically, this is how it goes.
Some point I decided I want to become a doctor and study in the US.
I've done my relevant exams, tests, research about schools etc.
Now I'm in NY, already picked a college, and 'm already applying for the next fall (30 of august).
Now I started thinking about what happens next. Lets start from the prices.. The prices are a lot higher than in Israel. The college I choose, which is one of the cheapest costs , including everything around 27000$ a year.
Multiply it by 4 for the college, and than add the 4 years of medical school which will be much more expensive and you'll see what amounts we are talking about.
So that's one problem.
Another thing is, I'm gonna spend the next 8 years (at minimum) outside of Israel. Which is, eventually, home. Family, friends, life etc.
Moreover, it would be starting a new life here. Who knows, maybe I'll meet someone, might get married, who knows.
Of course, once I'll become a doctor and finish my studies I will have a choice to return to Israel. Yet again the money comes up. I will have a debt of around 300,000$. Which, with the physicians sallaries in Israel, I will never be able to pay back. Which basically making me, staying in the US.
So, what would you have done? I mean, true, it is America.. Home of the free and blah blah blah. Great options, progressing through life, taking a giant leap that not many take, discovering yourself, and at the bottom line, an adventure.
But, I always have been, and I think, I always will see Israel as home.
I am proud to be part of our country, and I love it, and besides, all of my life up to now are in Israel..
So.. I think you got my problem. What should I do?
I'm feeling as if I'm turn apart by my past and by my future.
Thank you!
