Executive Jet Crashes Landing at Rio de Janeiro Airport, No One Killed

An Ocean Air executive jet crashed into Rio de Janeiro’s Guanabara Bay while attempting to land today. All three people aboard were rescued.

The plane showed damage to the nose while half-submerged in shallow water off the runway at the downtown Santos Dumont airport, according to images broadcast on Globo News television.

The plane fell into the water after one of its tires exploded, O Globo newspaper reported, citing information provided by Brazil’s Infraero airports authority. The airport, used by business travelers commuting to Sao Paulo, was closed and emergency workers were attempting to secure the plane.
