Gunnarson pulls off escape from car wash
As if Halloween weren't scary enough, Winnipeg escape artist Dean Gunnarson performed his latest dance with death yesterday.To mark the death of legendary magician Harry Houdini, who died on Halloween in 1926, Gunnarson was chained, locked and handcuffed to the roof of a sport utility vehicle and driven through an automatic car wash.
"Every Halloween, wherever I am in the world, I always like to do a tribute to honour the man that got me started," said Gunnarson at The Chamois Car Wash at 1285 St. James St. yesterday.

הארי הודיני (באנגלית: Harry Houdini; 24 במרץ 1874 - 31 באוקטובר 1926) היה שם הבמה של אריך וייס, מגדולי הקוסמים, פעלולנים ואמני ההיחלצות בכל הזמנים.
אריך וייס נולד ב-24 במרץ 1874 למשפחה יהודית בבודפשט, הונגריה. ב-1878 היגרה משפחת וייס לארצות הברית. בתחילה חיו בויסקונסין, שם עבד אב המשפחה כרב הקהילה הרפורמית. ב-1887 עברו אריך ואביו לניו יורק. אריך שינה את שמו ל"הארי", שהיה בעל צליל אמריקאי ודומה לשמו ההונגרי.
