NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks dropped Friday, hit by renewed tensions between Russia and Ukraine as well as a batch of disappointing earnings reports. The broad-based selling wiped out what had been weekly gains for the main indexes. The S&P 500 SPX -0.81% fell 15.21 points, or 0.8%, to close at 1,863.40, according to preliminary FactSet data. The benchmark lost 0.1% for the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA -0.85% shed 140.19 points, or nearly 0.9%, to finish at 16,361.46. The blue-chip index shed 0.3% for the week. The Nasdaq Composite COMP -1.75% slid 72.78 points, or nearly 1.8%, to end at 4,075.56. The tech-heavy index lost 0.5% for the week.
