The story is about a battle between two 11 year old boys, that hated each other from the first day they met.
The story begins in Warings, an ugly house built of dark red brick.
Joseph,Edmund (11 year old boy) Hooper arrives to Warings to visit grandfather Hooper. In that day he died, and Joseph inherit the ugly house.
Joseph found a housekeeper, Helena Kingshaw, and she has a son, Charles (he is almost 11 years old).
Edmund does not like to have a new friend therefore he bullies Charles terribly. For example, Edmund laughs as he sees Charles is scared of a big crow which attacking Charles.
One day, Charles decided to run away from the house and Edmund, so early in the morning he ran away to the woods. After a while he discovered that Edmond followed him. So, they continued together.
Finally they understood that they are lost and do not know where they are. In this journey, Charles sees that Edmund afraid and a crybaby and understands that he do not afraid of Edmund anymore.
Finally, their parents found them and they returned home. And of course Edmund blamed Charles in everything.
Even after all that, Edmund continued to abuse Charles.
Charles realized he has to live together with Edmund, because Joseph and his mother probably wanted to marry. He ran to the woods again. When Charles arrived to the stream of the wood, he lied down in the water and breathed a long breath.
When Edmond and the others found him dead in the stream, Edmund said: I won.אני צריך לדעת אם יש טעויות בדקדוק ובניקוד.
